TRAGIC LOSS. Multi-award-winning actress tragically died today in hospital

The family of BLACK PANTHER star Connie Chiume said she died at the age of 72.

The South African actress, who won many awards, died in a hospital in Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon.

Nongelo, Chiume’s son, told Newsroom Afrika that his mother was taken to the hospital for a “medical procedure” before she died.

Rhythm City, Zone 14, and Gomora are just a few of the South African TV shows that Chiume was in.

Chume played Zawavari, a member of the Wakandan Tribal Council, in the 2018 movie Black Panther.

Her character became Wakanda’s Elder Statesman in the movie’s follow-up, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

They want to be left alone for now and say that more information will be sent later.

This is how Chiume told the MacG Podcast in 2022 that she wanted people to remember her.

“Everyone I’ve touched has been changed in a different way,” the famous actress said. In any way I have affected you, remember that.

On social media, there are lots of tributes and posts from fans saying how sad they are about her death.

“Our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and coworkers of multi-award winning and legendary actress Connie Chiume,” the South African government wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“Her outstanding work will always be remembered.”
