Shannen Doherty’s ex-husbands have behaved in different ways following her death. While her third husband chose to sign their divorce papers on the same day she died, her first husband has been expressing how heartbroken he is.
Since the tragic passing of beloved Hollywood star Shannen Doherty has been circulating in public spheres, people have had different reactions. Doherty’s former husbands, specifically her third and first, have recently expressed themselves in opposing ways where their relationships with her are concerned.

Wanting to finally put her third and last marriage with photographer Kurt Iswarienko behind her, the “Charmed” star agreed to settle their divorce a day before she passed away. She signed documents to do so on July 12.

Court documents show that Doherty signed a filing to waive the spousal support she was previously requesting from Iswarienko. Additionally, she had agreed to an “uncontested dissolution” of their marriage, alluding to the fact that she and her ex had come to a mutual understanding outside of court.

In a nutshell, the documents state that both Doherty and Iswarienko entered into a written agreement concerning what would happen to their property and their partnership rights and support. Reports state that this was pending to be submitted or had already been submitted to the court.

What’s particularly disheartening and arguably heartless is the fact that, although Doherty finalized her side of things a day before her demise, Iswarienko signed the papers the very next day, July 13—the day she died at 53.

After 11 years of marriage, which started when the former couple tied the knot in October 2011, Iswarienko chose to hammer the final nail in their marriage coffin on such a tragic day. Perhaps he may have still been in the mindset of dealing with the contentious back and forth the duo went through during their divorce.

While Iswarienko’s actions may come across as cold, another ex-husband of hers has been mourning her death. Actor Ashley Hamilton, the first man Doherty said “I do” to in 1993, has been particularly outspoken about how heartbroken he is by her death.
Even though the pair were only married for about a year (having divorced in 1994), Hamilton recalls how amazing Doherty was to him as a wife.
“Shannen was not only my wife, she was my guardian angel. Even though things don’t work out the way we hope they will, she stood by my side during some of my darkest times. My love and admiration for her lasted far longer than our short-lived marriage,” Hamilton divulged.

He also feels deeply about Doherty’s death because she passed from an illness that he managed to survive—cancer. “Watching her battle that horrific disease with such stoicism was inspiring to many, but even more so to me since I am a cancer survivor,” he revealed.
During his declarations, the actor admitted that he regrets not reaching out to Doherty amid her cancer battle, noting how he intended to give her space.
Making one final comment about his sorrow, Hamilton, expressed, “The world lost a free-spirited soul and my heart aches for her and for all those who loved her. May she rest in peace.”

In addition to Hamilton and Iswarienko, Doherty was also married briefly to a man named Rick Salomon. He was her second husband from 2002 to 2003 after the ex-couple got an annulment.

Speaking about her brief relationship with Salomon on a past episode of her podcast “Let’s Be Clear with Shannen Doherty,” the “Beverly Hills, 90210” talent shared, “We got married super fast.” Salomon revealed how they had only dated for about three weeks before tying the knot in Las Vegas.

Thus far, Salomon has yet to speak about Doherty’s death as Hamilton did. However, what continues to stand out is Kurt Iswarienko signing his and Doherty’s divorce papers on the day of her demise.
His actions come after court documents revealed that Shannen Doherty had asserted that Iswarienko purposely stalled their divorce for a startling reason.

According to documents, Doherty sought a monthly spousal support payment of $15,343. This move came alongside pointed criticisms of Iswarienko’s lavish spending habits. The actress detailed the difference between her and Iswarienko’s finances in documents.

“Kurt’s average annual earnings for the last three years of marriage was $672,916,” the actress stated in 2023. Allegedly, Doherty’s average annual earnings for the last three years of marriage was $259,708. Doherty also elaborated on the sources of her income.
“The majority of my residual income is from a television show called ‘Charmed.’ I recently learned that ‘Charmed’ will no longer be streaming on any major streaming platform after June 30, 2024. As a result, my future residual income will dramatically decrease,” the actress revealed.

The financial strain was made worse by Doherty’s high monthly expenses. They exceed $54,600. The actress added that she couldn’t work due to her health. Thus, she would soon lose SAG Health Insurance, which in turn would significantly increase her medical bills.
In a startling revelation, Doherty accused Iswarienko of intentionally delaying the divorce proceedings. This was allegedly in hopes that she would die before a settlement was reached.

“It is simply not right that Kurt be permitted to prolong our divorce in hopes that I die before he is required to pay me while he continues to live his life and shirk his responsibilities to his dying wife of more than 11 years,” she asserted in a June 2024 filing.
Doherty’s court documents painted a clear picture of the situation for her. “Our assets are neither difficult to characterize nor divide. Our divorce should not be complicated. It is abundantly clear to me that Kurt is intentionally delaying settlement in hopes that I will not survive the divorce proceedings,” the actress stated.

Alas, Doherty sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer before acquiring any of the spousal support she had requested. The heartbreaking news was initially shared via a statement made by her longtime publicist, Leslie Sloan.

“It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease,” said Sloane.
“The devoted daughter, sister, aunt and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace,” she continued in her statement.
The late star, best known for her role in “Beverly Hills 90210,” was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and had been open about her health struggles over the years.
Doherty shared how her dog Bowie, named after the late musical superstar David Bowie, had an uncanny intuition about her health issues before she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Bowie would obsessively sniff her right side, where the cancer was later discovered, signaling an early warning that something was amiss.
After her diagnosis and through her treatments, including surgery and chemotherapy, Bowie’s behavior shifted to become even more protective. Doherty described her dog’s presence as “crazy protective,” making it difficult for anyone to get close to her, a testament to the deep bond they shared.

Doherty’s courage and transparency about her diagnosis inspired many of her fans and fellow cancer fighters. Her passing marks a significant loss in the entertainment community. She will be remembered not only for her roles on screen but also for her resilience and spirit in the face of adversity.
